We conducted an Anzac Day liturgy for the entire school community with the involvement of our Parish Priest. The Gallipoli Oak was blessed as part of the ceremony. The previous Monday our Junior School children visited the Monbulk RSL where a member of the RSL explained the significance of the plaques commemorating the war dead. The children also laid a wreath of flowers at the memorial as a sign of respect to the fallen. On the Tuesday the students in Years 3-6 attended the Anzac Day Commemorative Service for schools at Ferntree Gully National Park. Following the service the students then travelled to Emerald, where they journeyed through the Anzac Memorial Walk lead by Peter Maloney, President of the Emerald RSL. On the Thursday before Anzac Day the students in Year 6 travelled to the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance to partake in the Anzac Commemoration for Schools. The students travelled on a bus provided by Legacy. The students laid a wreath on behalf of our school. They also had the opportunity to tour the Shrine itself. On Anzac Day students and parents of St Paul’s School attended the 9am march and ceremony in Monbulk, where a wreath was laid by the school.
